Here's How to Choose the Right Game Console for You

By Aashish Verma

Introduction

Leading video game consoles come in different shapes, sizes and prices, and sometimes in their available video games.

Three Main Platforms

1. The Sony PlayStation 2. Microsoft’s Xbox 3. Nintendo’s Switch

Sony PlayStation

Sony's PlayStation 4 is the second-best-selling platform of all time, thanks to exclusive, well-reviewed games like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Spider-Man.

PlayStation 5

You can buy games digitally or on disc thanks to the built-in disc drive and Blu-ray player if you're willing to pay a slightly higher price tag up front.

Microsoft’s Xbox

Most of the PlayStation 4 games can also be played on Microsoft's Xbox, but there are a few exclusives. Sony has also has a few titles that aren’t on the PS4, like Gears of War and Halo

Xbox Series X

Not only does it have the best graphics chip of the bunch, but it supports FreeSync, Dolby Atmos, and — in 2021 — will also support Dolby Vision for games.

Nintendo Switch

Lastly, Nintendo has a lot of things that make it unique. Some of the same games are on the Nintendo Switch as on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, but the graphics aren't nearly as good.

Nintendo Switch Lite

If you aren’t looking to play on your TV, the Switch Lite is a more affordable, handheld-only version of the Switch
