ChatGPT Popularity Exploited by Threat Actors to Distribute Malware

OpenAI's ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbox built on GPT family 3 of the large language model.

The AI powered tool rose to fame in November last year & gained more than 100 million users worldwide.

ChatGPT can be used for writing essays, coding software, recipes, etc.

Threat actors use ChatGPT's popularity to distribute malware for Windows and Android.

Due to its immense popularity, OpenAI introduced a $20 plan for unrestricted access named it ChatGPTPlus.

Attackers used this opportunity to promise unrestricted & no fees required to access the ChatGPTPlus.

These were fake offers to lure users into installing malicious malware onto their devices to steal account information.

Attackers promoted phishing websites through a Facebook page & used fake ChatGPT apps to install malware & steal info.
