Google’s is seems to be working a simple and fast way for transferring files between Android as well as Chrome OS with their app named Fast Share. Fast Share could prove itself a strong competitor of Apple’s AirDrop.
Google earlier announced that they will finally ditch Android Beam which was first seen with Android Ice-Cream Sandwich back in 2011 which was working with NFC.
The Fast Share will a tool that lets users share files directly to other nearby devices without internet through a combination of Bluetooth(to create a device ‘handshake’) and Wifi Direct.
We have already seen something similar to Files By Google app(previously known as Files Go).
After first spotting by 9to5Google, XDA Recognized Developer Quinny899 managed to get some on hand experience with Fast Share app and shared us with some screenshots.
Fast Share can be used in android device for sharing different type of files either it is an image or any document and video also XDA developer says that it can also be used for sharing URLs and snippets of text.
There will be an app icon available for launching the app and alternatively it can also be accessed from Fast Share option in Google Settings.
