Path of Exile 2 introduced me first to Spirit, as a mechanism quite new to me, but rather ambitious. It is an entirely new mechanism that users will be able to use with skill auras and abilities exclusive to certain classes.
If you went through the first part of Path of Exile, you know the significance of Mana. Well, Spirit takes that role and, trust me, is a game changer.
From someone summoning hordes of terrifying minions, or someone that focuses on supercharged Aura skills, Delight became the central part of that character build. Spirit was how effective or strong minions were.
I have spent a lot of time experimenting and exploring to figure out what methods have the highest reward to earn Spirit. Here is everything I have learned about Spirit so far, broken down so it becomes rather easy to follow.
A Complete Guide to Get More Spirits in Path of Exile 2?
The Role of Spirit
Spirit is a core feature for multiple abilities set in Path of Exile 2 that brings everything together for an overall experience.
Now instead of being constrained to only the Aura and Witch mechanics, which were only possible with Mana as a resource, Spirit becomes dominant, meaning a lot more Spirit will be accumulated to perform stronger effects such as countless minions. Particularly in this case, creating a building more suitable for witches.
But it’s not just for summoners; characters that use a Spirit-heavy Aura build or go through specific Ascendancy classes could do more with it.
Whether it was moves that worked more fluently or simply stronger effects with the right combination of Spirit. Mastering Spirit had a steep learning curve but eventually opened many doors.
Ways of Increasing Spirit
Possessing Powerful Scepters
Without the scepters, the Spirit pool is impossible to boost. I have observed that the game keeps providing you with better scepters the further into the game you go. Scepters have a baseline amount of spirit and the better scepters that you find strengthen that amount.
They are the primary weapons of Witch builds, but that doesn’t mean they’re exclusive to that class. Every character can use a Scepter or any weapon as long as the character’s stats can wield it.
If your problem is lacking in Spirit then replacing it with a leveled Scepter will solve your problem instantly. As long as the overall physique isn’t compromised in any way and is part of your build, of course.
Utilizing Spirit Boosting Potions
Another option is the consumables, which can also be used to pool in more Spirit energy temporarily. There can be Spirit-boosting consumables, such as the infamous King in the Mists who is capable of serving such things. On certain occasions, consumables are drastically effective, especially when dealing with some heavy hits.
So, let’s assume that you are facing a tough boss or venturing through an upper-level map. If there is a need, taking one of these consumables could be the missing link in providing enough Spirit to enable all Skills to be activated at once.
But, don’t expect too much from the bottles. These are supposed to be used at the crucial times when Spirit is thin and the performance is critical.
Ascend to Infernalist (Class Change for Witch only)
For the Witches, the Infernalist Ascendancy is the only way to gain the Spirit. The skill tree of the Infernalist allows one to turn Life into Spirit, thus, it is an enormous increase in resource capacity. This synergy is also quite good for the minion builds that work with sustained Aura skill usage.
But this comes at the cost of risk. One thing to remember is that trading Life for Spirit is quite a gamble. If you are the type of person who likes to take risks and loves to push the character limits, then go ahead and try this Ascendancy, but do not forget to keep a good defensive scheme.
So here are my Extra Tips on How to Manage Spirits in Path of Exile 2.
Other Spirit Tips include: Flask Effects and Testing
So far in the game, about 2, it is fair to say that flasks are not purely life regens and damage flasks that are aimed to justifiably it. Nevertheless, few possess the ability to either restore spirit automatically with time or raise the roof for a short period.
The right combination of Flasks is a game changer. I had to try out a couple of different combinations until I managed to find a set that I could effectively use.
For example, there are instances where a character runs low on Spirit in the middle of a fight, so Scenarios like these call for a Flask that refills Spirit in a short amount of time.
Skill Tree Optimization
In Path of Exile 2, passive skill tree coverage contains improvement or even specific core element coverage.
Or they can limit the Spirit expenditure of some spells. When I was still early in my game, I already realized how powerful these can be.
They tend to not catch your eye at the start, but the further up you go, the more they stack quickly with your levels and challenges as you progress.
If most of the skills in your build utilize Spirit, look for nodes that are dominant in that resource. It might mean that you will lose some damage or defense, but when there is no mid-base Spirit Exhaustion, it should be all worth it.
Gem Link Efficiency
It is possible to mitigate Spirit expenditure through competent gem connections. At the start, my gem setup was bad, and as a result, I quickly went through all my Spirit; I learned my lesson the hard way.
There were many situations where I was linking support gems and picking skills that had gems that were more efficient or reduced the cost, which brought noticeable positive outcomes.
Alternatively, if you are unsure, you may want to experiment with a few different setups in a less risky area until you know which one serves your build best.
Wrapping It All
Effective Spirit management in Path of Exile 2 revolves around something else besides just those better polishing of the numbers.
It’s the interplay between your build and the resource and the clever utilization of its possibilities. Be it the items equipped, items used, or points invested in the skill tree, the options for optimizing Spirit management are numerous.
What I found out to be the best part is the game encourages you to experiment. It’s fine and actually recommended to use different approaches or different builds, who knows, maybe you will stumble upon a better combination.
