The wait is finally over after much of the Leaks and rumors, as Samsung has finally launched the next iteration of its Flagship Galaxy S series of smartphones i.e. Samsung Galaxy S23 series.
The Galaxy S23 series includes three phones under its belt – Galaxy S23, S23 Plus and the flagship S23 Ultra.
This year seems to be the refinement year with the polished design, minimal upgrades and new colors.
In this article, we’ll look at the vanilla S23 and its Plus sibling, i.e. S23 Plus. So let’s get started with the Design of the S23 & S23 Plus.
Samsung S23 & S23 Design
Both the S23 & S23 Plus share the same design language in line with the last year’s S22 Ultra design, which means triple individual camera lenses on the back, so there’s no camera island/bar this time around!
As for the front, both phones have a flat display with minimal bezels all around and a centered punch-hole camera. The sides of the frame are made up of metal.
Samsung Galaxy S23 & S23 Plus Specifications
Galaxy S23 & S23 Plus share almost the same specifications with some key differences i.e. the display & battery.
The vanilla s23 features a 6.1-inch AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate & FHD+, while S23 Plus will have a taller 6.6-inch display; both phones support HDR10+ certification, have a peak brightness of 1750 nits and is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
There’s also a new “Vision Booster” feature that enhances the color of the display as per the lighting around you and an “Enhanced Comfort” feature to lessen eye strain.
Both phones are powered by a custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 clocked at 3.36GHz, which normally maxes out at 3.32GHz on SD Gen 2, and the Adreno 740 GPU goes upto 719MHz from the usual 680MHz.
The S23 comes in 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB RAM & Storage variants, whereas the Plus model only has 8GB/256GB and 8GB/512GB options. Both phones run on OneUi 5.1, based on Android 13 out of the box!
The Galaxy smartphones are available in four color options – Phantom Black, Green, Lavender, and Cream.
S23 & S23 Plus have triple rear cameras at the back, a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, which supports 8K video recording at 30fps, a 12MP ultra-wide with a 120-degree field of view, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom optical zoom.
As for the front, there’s a 12MP camera for selfies with support for super HDR at 60fps.
The Galaxy devices get the battery upgrades; the vanilla S23 features a 3900mAh battery (up from 3700 last year), whereas S23 Plus has a 4700mAh battery (up from 4500mAh last year).
S23 supports 25W fast wired charging while S23 Plus supports 45W wired charging. Lastly, both Galaxy devices have wireless charging and are IP68 dust & water-resistant!
