Monster Hunter Wilds: Mastering the Hunt for Gravid Bowfin
Where to Find Gravid Bowfin
Gravid Bowfins are rare and can spawn in multiple regions, but certain locations have higher success rates:
- Ruins of Wyveria: The most reliable spot is the fishing hole beside Area 8: Gap in Rubble pop-up camp. If you haven’t set up this camp yet, navigate to the southeastern area on level three and let your Seikret guide you.
- Windswept Plains: The oasis in Area 13 has been noted as a potential spot for Gravid Bowfin sightings.
- Scarlet Forest: Between Areas 12 and 13, near the waterfall, there’s a deep pool where these fish might appear.
While some have mentioned the Oilwell Basin and Iceshard Cliffs as possible locations, my experiences there have been less fruitful.
In the Oilwell Basin, fish activity was minimal, and despite reports about the pool north of the Area 1 camp in Iceshard Cliffs, I had no luck.
Optimal Conditions
Time and environmental conditions play a significant role in fish behavior:
- Time of Day: Evening seems to be the optimal time to find Gravid Bowfins.
- Weather Conditions: Fishing during “plenty” weather conditions can increase your chances of encountering these elusive fish.
Catching Technique
Gravid Bowfins are particular about their bait and how it’s presented:
- Bait: The Emerald Jitterbait is essential for attracting Gravid Bowfins.
- Technique: Cast the lure beyond the fish’s location and reel in slowly, moving the left thumbstick up and down to create a “jitter” effect.
Occasionally, pause and give the lure a slight jerk by pressing down on the thumbstick. This movement pattern keeps the bowfin interested. Once the fish notices the bait, focus on jerking the line instead of reeling continuously, as constant reeling might cause the fish to lose interest.
Final Thoughts
Embarking on the quest to catch a Gravid Bowfin is a testament to the depth and immersion of “Monster Hunter Wilds.”
While it requires patience and precision, the satisfaction of successfully reeling in this elusive fish makes the effort worthwhile. Remember, after securing the Gravid Bowfin, Kanya’s challenges continue, so keep your fishing gear ready and stay persistent.
