Electronic Arts has announced its next big foray into the world of Star Wars — it’s called Star Wars Zero Company, and it’s a single-player, turn-based strategy game from Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games.
The announcement comes after a recent leak that appeared online, teasing the game with several strangle screenshots.
While EA isn’t offering many more details at the moment, fans won’t have to wait too long for more info.
On April 19, the game will get a full reveal as part of the Star Wars Celebration event in Japan, and attendees to the event will be the first to get an official look at the game. The panel is scheduled for 4:30 PM JST (1 PM IST).
Star Wars: Tactical Rebellion
Zero Company promises a more thoughtful and methodical gameplay experience, unlike the action-packed, fast-paced Star Wars games we’ve seen in recent years.
Strategic in approach with a wide range of operatives to command, each with their own skills and personality, Fans will lead operatives on missions across the galaxy.
The game’s premise is one of recruiting a ragtag team of unlikely heroes and sending them out on high-stakes missions — a setup that sounds an awful lot like a classic game like XCOM, which shouldn’t shock you considering who’s behind the game.
Bit Reactor’s Greg Foertsch, who served as art director on XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2, is helming the project.
Is It Built on Unreal Engine 5?
Yes, Star Wars Zero Company is created using Epic Games’ next-generation Unreal Engine 5, which makes way for next-gen graphics and engaging environments that bring players closer to the Star Wars world.
Currently, the title is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, meaning it has a next-gen experience for all platforms.
A New Force in Strategy Gaming
Even though Bit Reactor is a new studio, it is made up of veteran developers with a long history of tactical gameplay.
Teaming up with Respawn Entertainment — the studio responsible for blockbusters like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Apex Legends — gives Zero Company an extra kick of cred and excitement.
Both Respawn and Bit Reactor have open positions for this ambitious project, so while it sounds like a lot of moving parts are coming together, it also sounds like the game is still in development.
The hiring team is for people who love a good strategy game as much as they do the Star Wars universe and want them to join their team.
