All of you must have played some of the games from GTA epic game series. Whether it is GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, GTA IV or GTA V, each one of us At least played one of those games. GTA is one of the all-time best video game series ever. I personally started to play it when I was 14 and I remember that I bought GTA Vice City and it was also my first video game ever. To me it was very fascinating as it was something I have never seen before, it seemed so real to me. Later I also got GTA San Andreas and I play all of those till date. Today we will learn how one of the greatest video game series started in the first place.

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) is an action-adventure video game series created by David Jones and Mike Dailly; the later titles of which were created by brothers Dan and Sam Houser, Leslie Benzies and Aaron Garbut. It is primarily developed by Rockstar North (formerly DMA Design), and published by Rockstar Games. The name of the series references the term used in the US for motor vehicle theft.

Most games in the series are set in fictional locales modeled on cities, usually, either Liberty City, Vice City, or San Andreas, which are stand-ins for New York City, Miami, and the state of California, respectively. The first game encompassed three fictional cities, while subsequent titles tend to emphasize a single setting. Gameplay focuses on an open world where the player can choose missions to progress an overall story, as well as engaging in side activities, all consisting of action-adventure, driving, third-person shooting, occasional role-playing, stealth and racing elements.

So, How did it all begin: Story of GTA?

Originally GTA was designed to be a car racing game. When the code was prepared and given to the testers, it was found that as soon as the game starts, several police cars would automatically chase the car. The testers observed this, it was a code glitch and the developers were informed about it. The developers of the game found the concept very interesting and instead of working on the glitch to make a racing game, they worked on the idea of being chased by police if the player does any offense. This is how the story of GTA began and now we have one of the best games ever.

British video game developer DMA Design began the series in 1997. As of 2014, it has eleven stand-alone games and four expansion packs. The third chronological title, Grand Theft Auto III, is considered a landmark title, as it brought the series to a 3D setting and more immersive experience. Subsequent titles would follow and build upon the concept established in Grand Theft Auto III and receive significant acclaim.

So the developers of GTA turned a software glitch into a main feature of the game…..

And this is how we got the GTA series of video games.
