But that might not be the fault of Discord, as it only offers you this feature when you have the Nitro version.
If you are using the free version, then you may not be able to do so. However, if you are a Discord Nitro user and still find that the Discord Profile theme is not saving, then you can check out the fixes we have mentioned below.
Why is Discord Profile Theme Not Saving?
There are several reasons why the Discord profile theme does not save, including software bugs and cache conflicts. Here are a few common reasons why Discord may not be able to save a user’s profile theme:
- Software Glitches: Discord, like any software, can experience bugs or glitches. You may not be able to save changes to your profile theme due to these glitches.
- Outdated Discord Version: When using an outdated Discord version, you may experience compatibility issues as well as functional problems, such as not being able to save profile themes. It is sometimes possible to resolve such issues by updating Discord to its latest version.
- Cache and Temporary Files: Discord’s cached data and temporary files can become corrupted or outdated, which prevents the saving of changes to profiles. There is a solution to this problem, which is to clear Discord’s cache.
- Discord Overlay: Discord Overlay lets you use Discord while playing fullscreen games. Although it is compatible with Discord’s functionality, it may conflict with the saving of profile themes. In order to resolve the issue, Discord Overlay may need to be disabled.
- Corrupted User Settings: Users can also experience problems saving their profile themes when their Discord settings are corrupted or configured incorrectly. Default Discord settings may be reset to resolve this issue.
- Server-Side Problems: Discord’s server-side problems or maintenance activities can sometimes cause profile theme-saving issues. In most cases, Discord’s technical team will resolve these issues for you.
What is a Profile Theme?
When anyone views your profile, they will see a pop-up with a color scheme. It is only available to Nitro subscribers who are able to create their own profile themes.
How to Fix if Discord Profile Theme is Not Saving?
Here are some fixes that will help you resolve the Discord Profile theme is not saving error:
Fix 1: Restart Discord
To see if the issue is resolved, restart Discord and then change your profile theme. It is possible that after restarting your computer, the theme of your profile has changed.
To close Discord, right-click the icon and select Quit Discord from the menu. Launch Discord again and see if the problem has been resolved.
Secondly, wait a while before changing your profile theme again. You will be timed out if you attempt to change your profile multiple times in a short period of time.
If the theme cannot be changed, hold off for a while and then check.
Fix 2: Update Discord Application
When a Discord user receives the message “There was a problem updating your account,” updating the app usually solves the issue.
Furthermore, Discord regularly releases updates for account management in addition to fixing bugs and glitches.
In most cases, the app will automatically update whenever you start it. If you are still experiencing the error, you can manually download and install it from the Discord website.
This will ensure that you have the most recent version.
Discord runs smoothly if it is updated regularly, preventing issues such as profile settings not saving, and making sure it runs correctly.
Fix 3: Disable Discord Overlay
While playing games in fullscreen mode, you can access Discord with Discord Overlay. There are times when it interferes with Discord’s functionality, including storing profile themes.
If the overlay on Discord is disabled, this might resolve the problem. To do this, follow these steps:
- Initially, go to the User Settings (gear icon) in Discord.
- Afterward, select the “Overlay” tab.
- Thereafter, make sure “Enable in-game overlay” is turned off.
- Finally, your profile theme may need to be changed after you restart Discord.

It may be worth trying a different device to change the theme of your Discord profile if your changes aren’t saving. In some cases, syncing issues can occur due to differences between the app and web version.

Fix 7: Report a Bug
It may be beneficial to submit a Bug Report if none of these fixes work for you. Bug reports tell the developers of Discord about the bug you are experiencing and hope they will be able to resolve it.
In a Bug Report, you should provide the following information:
