Recently, it was leaked that Redmi will soon launch a new smartphone in its ever-growing Redmi 12 series of smartphones.
The upcoming Redmi 12 device was spotted on the Chinese telecom website. Also, the Indian version of the Miui build for the handset was also found on the official MIUI server as well.
The company has unveiled yet another smartphone in its Redmi 12 series, i.e., Redmi 12R, in its home turf, China. The handset is likely a 5G variant of the regular Redmi 12. Well, that’s not all; the company recently unveiled Redmi 12R Pro in China as well.

Redmi 12R Design
The design language of the Redmi 12R is identical to the devices in the Redmi 12 lineup, with some minute changes.
The handset features a big display at the front with a centered punch-hole camera for selfies, and there are minimal bezels all around the display.
The Power Button and volume rockers are on the right, Type-C port & speaker grille are at the bottom.
As for the back, there’s a Dual camera setup with individual camera housing and an LED Flash. The company logo is at the bottom.

Redmi 12R Specifications
First off, the Redmi 12R shares most of its with its other sibling, i.e., the vanilla Redmi 12. However, there are some minor differences between the two devices, like in the processor and cameras.
The Redmi 12 features a 6.79-inch IPS LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and FullHD+ resolution. The display has a 70% color gamut and 550 nits brightness.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, making it the first device to launch with the midrange chipset!
The handset comes with 4/6/8GB RAM & 128/256GB storage, which can be expanded via the MicroSD card. Runs on Miui 14 based on Android 13 and is available in three color options such as Sky Fantasy, Midnight Black, and Time Blue.
For the options, the handset has a dual rear camera setup at the back with a 50MP main sensor & f/1.8 aperture, and the second shooter is a 2MP macro lens with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera is an 8MP sensor with f/2.1 aperture.
Redmi 12R features a 5,000mAh battery with 18W wire fast charging, and the device is IP53 rated. Other features of the phone include a Side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5mm Headphone jack, and Ai face unlock.
