Folding smartphones seem to be the new trend in the mobile market. We have seen all sorts of weird folding designs, clamshell designs, and other stuff too. Now again in a new development, Xiaomi filed patent for a folding phone, and it looks similar to the Huawei Mate X.
Xiaomi Filed Patent for a Folding Phone
The news came from LetsGoDigital, that shows the enhanced design of the foldable smartphone. On Friday, the new patent was published by the CINPA for a smartphone design submitted in late 2019. This revealed that Xiaomi filed patent for a folding phone. Looking at the images, it looks very similar to the Huawei Mate X.
You can see the smartphone with a foldable display that folds outwards. A bar can be seen which holds the camera setup and also is the thickest part of the phone. There are no selfie cameras available so the primary cameras at the bar are the only cameras available for closeup shots as well.
Very similar to the Mate X, the charging port is also at the bottom of this thick bar which houses the cameras. This also acts as the grip to hold the phone in when it is in an unfolded position.
The point to be noted here is that these patents does not mean that it will come to reality but Xiaomi filed patent for a folding phone and if they could bring a cheap folding phone to compete with the Galaxy Fold and the very expensive Mate X, they can really perform well in the foldable smartphone bracket.
