“Amazon Braket is a fully managed AWS service, with security & encryption baked in at each level,” said Amazon’s blog post. So while IBM and Google are deep into crowning themselves with Quantum supremacy, the Amazon Braket is supposed to just allow the user to be able to access the new and developing field of quantum computing over the internet.

A month ago the Microsoft Quantum Team came out with something similar, which too aimed to provide solutions to complex problems through the world’s most scalable quantum system. And so Azure Quantum was introduced as a means to provide a full-stack, open cloud ecosystem for the world to utilize and learn.

Amazon too is offering this Quantum computing service now aiming to provide a platform to learn, build and solve, as their blog said “This new service is designed to let you get some hands-on experience with qubits and quantum circuits. You can build and test your circuits in a simulated environment and then run them on an actual quantum computer”

AWS Center for Quantum Computing is being set up by Amazon near the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Amazon’s director of quantum computing confirmed that they are working on quantum hardware.

So what exactly does it mean to us to be exploring Quantum computing? To put in an overtly simple manner, it would allow faster calculation, because of their bits can exist in multiple quantum states instead of simply being on (1) or off (0).

Google recently claimed that its machine successfully made a calculation that would take the world’s most powerful supercomputer 10,000 years. And so just like AWS (Amazon Web Services) which is a shared and co-managed resource, quantum computing too would have to be a joint venture considering how rare and expensive it is, Amazon and Microsoft have already started out together for the same.
