CES is an annual trade show organized by the Consumer Technology Association. Held in January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas. Honda had announced its partnership with SoundHound for developing its own digital personal assistant. This had been announced back in 2018 and so it has been long-awaited which will be finally showcased in the 2020 CES.
Honda’s In-Car AI
Honda has claimed that the technology would have “unprecedented” speed and accuracy. But besides that, there has been no more info released from Honda’s side regarding how it compares with other AI like Google, Alexa, and Siri.
Although it has been said that the command “OK Honda” would help to wake the car. Besides that, the AI would be able to process queries based on the context of your current location and your previous questions. And the AI is accompanied by a bunch of other products and concepts which are going to be showcased.
‘Smartphone as Brain’ is one of these projects that would allow usage of smartphones while driving, while maintaining safety measures. Using Bluetooth, your smartphone could be controlled by either voice commands or the physical buttons of your car.
AI in cars is relatively a newer introduction and it poses many safety hazards, the primary reason for worry being distraction of the driver. And AI can act as both the problem and solution for the same. But sometimes companies have been a bit too intrusive to ensure safety, Volvo said that it plans to install interior cameras to its vehicles to allow them to intervene when they see the driver isn’t paying attention to the road.
The CES 2020 certainly seems promising for Honda, while most of the showcasing there is of concepts which are often far from even visualization, Honda has a couple of practical tricks down its sleeve to impress the fans and excite the onlookers.
