As per the report by AndroidAuthority, OnePlus will offer a lifetime screen warranty for its affected device to users in India.
In a statement by OnePlus, “We realize that this issue is a great deal of inconvenience to the affected users, and we apologize for it. In line with our unwavering commitment, we encourage users to visit the nearest OnePlus service center for device diagnosis, and we are providing a lifetime screen warranty for all affected devices by the situation“.
Not only this but select users may also be eligible for the device upgrade discount; this was first discovered by the Telegram users named docnok63 & atharvak5 posted an image of a OnePlus Exclusive Service Centre with the announcement on it, which notified the users about the upgrade discount for the users affected by the Green line issue.

The announcement read – users of the OnePlus 8 Pro, 8T, 9, and 9R that are affected by the Green line issue do not have the spares as these devices are at the end of their life cycle, but to make up for that we are providing an upgrade discount voucher to upgrade to a new OnePlus phone.
It looks like the upgrade discount is indeed true, as the company has confirmed it. The company further elaborated and said, On select OnePlus 8 & 9 service devices, we are also offering a voucher to give users a fair percentage of the device value to upgrade to a new OnePlus device.
One thing to note here is that the lifetime screen warranty & upgrade discount is for Indian users only, and there’s no word on other regions as of now.
Also, the users who opt for the phone upgrade discount will need to buy the new phone from the OnePlus India website only, not through any other online or offline retailers.
Furthermore, the offer announcement does not mention anything about the conditions of the use of the affected devices that will be brought in.
Also, the upgrade discount announcement doesn’t mention anything about the Oneplus 8, 9 Pro, or the newer OnePlus 10 & 11 series of devices. This could probably mean that the newer series isn’t that much affected by the Green Line issue or the company has enough spares for these devices.
With the lifetime screen warranty & upgrade discount announcements, OnePlus users in the country can breathe a sigh of relief that they will finally be able to replace the screen of their devices that they had been trying for quite some time as their devices got rejected or they were asked to pay for the fault they did not commit.
Nonetheless, it’s good to see the company introducing such offers to tackle the situation & help out the affected customers. As for the other smartphone manufacturers have been silent or have been very careful about announcing anything related to this issue.
Hoping that after the OnePlus announcement, more smartphone makers will come forward to announce some sort of relief for the users affected by the Green Line issue.
