A few years ago, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 was going to be the last Windows, but in the last couple of years, we have seen Microsoft setting a deadline for Windows 10.
Microsoft is going to end the Windows 10 support next year on October 14 (2025). Also, there are rumors that Windows 12 is going to be announced anytime soon.
Now, coming back to the latest Windows 11 update, i.e., 24H2 update. The update was pushed to the Windows update channel on October 1, 2024.
And since the number base of Windows is huge, the update hasn’t been pushed to each and every supported device. It is rolling out gradually, and due to a few bugs, Microsoft has slowed the rollout.

In Case You don’t Have Group Policy Editor
As mentioned earlier, Group Policy Editor is only available for Windows Pro editions and above. You don’t need to worry if you have Windows Home edition. We will do the same thing that we did earlier, but using the Registry Editor.
Follow the below steps to do so.
- Open Registry Editor by entering the below command on the RUN command box.
regedit
- Now navigate to the following section to start the process.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
- Now look for Windowsupdate subkey; if you don’t see it, right-click on the Windows key and create a new Key and name it Windowsupdate.
- Right-click on the Windowsupdate, create a new String Value, and name it ProductVersion with Value data Windows 11.
- Now create another String Value, with the name TargetReleaseVersionInfo and the Value data 24H2.
- Lastly, create a new DWORD (32-bit), with the name TargetReleaseVersion and the Value data 1.
- Finally, close the Registry Editor and restart the PC.
- After the restart, navigate to Settings > Windows Update and then check for update; you will get the 24H2 instantly.
These two methods will help you force the update on your device. Make sure to disable the Group Policy Editor settings and remove the Registry Editor edits after you have updated to the latest Windows 11 24H2.
In case you don’t want to update via these methods, download the latest ISO file and clean install Windows 11 24H2 by following this guide.
